Arsenal suffer huge injury blow as Martinelli limps off on 35 mins vs Newcastle

Arsenal has sustained an important injury, with Gabriel Martinelli the last victim.

The 23-year-old was forced during the 37th minute of Arsenal's Carabao Cup semi-final second stage against Newcastle in St James' Park.

He went to the ground with his hamstring before he shivered the tunnel.

Ethan Nwaneri – one of the two attacking players on the couch – was present to replace him.

But the newest blow contributes to the growing list of injuries by Mikel Arteta.

Star Man Bukayo Saka sustained a hamstring injury in December and was forced to undergo surgery.

The English international is not expected to return to spring.

Striker Gabriel Jesus is also excluded for the season with an ACL injury.

The Brazilian fell awkward and was stretched last month during Arsenal's FA Cup collision with Manchester United.

If Martinelli is also assigned to the Fysio Chamber with an important problem, the Gunners will be limited to only four senior attacking players.
