Mikel Arteta insisted that Arsenal wanted to sign a new striker, but acknowledged the difficulty to fill that position for the next transfer window.
Arsenal's last hope for winning a trophy in 2024-25 ended on Wednesday when they were beaten by Paris Saint-Germain from the semi-final of the Champions League, which means that they will end a fifth consecutive season without silverware.
After the 3-1 aggregated defeat, Arsenal was criticized because he had not signed a natural striker when they had the chance in the January transfer window.
The Gunners are currently without Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus, who have passed both long spells on the sidelines, where Arteta chooses to play Mikel Merino as a false nine in their absence.
Arteta insisted that he is the area of his team that he wants to improve, but the circumstances did not allow it in January.
“Should I make it clearer? In January it was clear or not?” said Arteta.
“I told you because you were in the room, I often think, and it was a very clear explanation. The explanation continues the same.
“I want the best team, the best player. If we have three goal scorers older than 25, bring them in and we will be a much better team.
“I think if you score more than 90 goals, you have a high, high chance of winning the Premier League.
“It doesn't guarantee you, but you have a big chance if your defensive record is also very good and very reliable against who and at what time this striker, this winger in this case, has scored the goals and how many points he also contributes to his goals.”

According to reports, Arsenal is close to the signing of defensive midfielder Martin Zubimendi of Real Sociedad when the transfer window is opened.
Allegedly they have also submitted a first offer for Sporting CPs Viktor Gyokeres, who scored 52 goals this season in all competitions.
Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig and Alexander Isak from Newcastle United would also be on the shortlist of Arsenal for the coming transfer window.
When asked if it was the most difficult position to buy, Arteta said: “Probably, because there are not that many those figures have placed.
“It is something in the statistics, there are not much in the Premier League.
“We will try to improve, but certainly the ones we have now improve and love those we have now.
“Especially after losing it is too easy to just look somewhere else and not use the moment to judge players, especially.
“But when other players have surpassed other players we discussed, I have zero questions for the past 11 months.”
