Aston Villa have developed a taste for the Spanish market since the arrival of Unai Emery and sporting director Monchi, and the Villains could soon be looking for a centre-back again. Monchi featured in Rayo Vallecano's victory over Celta Vigo last weekend, but was then present at Sevilla's draw against Valencia.
The reason was not only to see his past side, but also to see Loic Bade. According to Relevo, Aston Villa have taken the first steps towards signing the French defender, who was a Monchi recruit during his time at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan. Current Sevilla sporting director Victor Orta denied reports that Monchi was at Sevilla's training ground on Tuesday, but said 'there was a market but no offer' for Bade.
Los Nervionenses are firm in their position that they will accept no less than €25 million for Bade. Last summer, Roma were rejected late in the period, as Sevilla demanded 30 million euros, due to the fact that their approach came late in the period, and Bade, satisfied in Andalusia, signed a new contract until 2029. He is aware that a A move to Villa would be a big financial benefit for him, but he won't force a move.
Bade, 24, had a brief and unsuccessful spell at Nottingham Forest before joining Sevilla, but has continued his development with Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan and has become one of the best defenders in La Liga. As Aston Villa look to succeed Diego Carlos, it seems likely that Bade will be his replacement.
