BBC pushing to move FA Cup final kick-off time over concerns it will clash with Eurovision Song Contest

The BBC insists on a kick-off of 3 p.m. in the FA Cup final because of the fear that viewers will suffer because of a collision with the Eurovision Song Contest.

Manchester City, who lost last year's final to Manchester United, will take on Crystal Palace in Wembley on 17 May.

But the showpiece, which attracted 9.1 million viewers last year, was able to overlap with the Eurovision match match that is held in Basel, Switzerland.

ITV also shares the rights to the FA Cup final, but it is the BBC that owns exclusive rights to the song competition.

Manchester United shocked Rivals Manchester City, with Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo nets for a Jeremy Doku Troost Doel, in the final last year that started on the traditional 3 p.m. berth.

17.00, however, has become an ever -popular starting time and was then the semi -final between Palace and Aston Villa.

The other semi -final, between Nottingham Forest and Manchester City, started at 4.30 p.m.

When the final of this season starts after 5 pm and reaches extra time or fines, it runs the risk of overlapping with the start of Eurovision, creating a headache for TV bosses.

However, a start of 3 p.m. means that the game would finally end at 6.30 pm, even if it went to punishing.

Pop Girl Group Remember Monday will represent the United Kingdom in the 69th edition of the Song Competition, confirmed with Graham Norton as host.

The hugely popular song races contains 26 acts in the final and is even shown in cinemas throughout the country.

The competition was organized in Liverpool last year and attracted a peak of 11 million viewers, who at that time were 63% of the TV public share, the BBC said.

Although a decreasing number of competitions takes place at 3 p.m., the slot remains enormously popular with fans.

An earlier kick -off will also give enough time for Manchester City supporters to make the trip back home outside of London.

A number of other considerations have an effect on kick-off times with the FA consultation with the police and the council.

This year's final will be held before the end of the Premier League season, but no other top matches will take place on the same day.

In the meantime, Chelsea's last Premier League match of the season against Manchester United was moved to ensure that it did not clash with the FA Cup final of the ladies.

The final of the women, between Chelsea and Manchester United, starts on 18 May at 1.30 pm.
