Chelsea 1-0 Liverpool: Bompastor’s side set record points total in WSL history

When Sonia Bompastor took the Chelsea -Baton of Emma Hayes last summer, it was difficult to imagine further distinctions that this team could be awarded this season.

A WSL title? Probably. A league sprope? Probably. But invincible? Even two-time Champions League winner Bompastor never dreamed that she would be in charge of her first season, completely unbeaten, so that the record points would completely break into the process.

Never before has a Women's League team completed a season of 22 games without losing a match, but Bompastor has succeeded in teaching a sense of belief in this group of champions that could not exceed any other team.

It has not always been the most beautiful, but Chelsea has succeeded in doing the job this season that mattered the most – winning the biggest games.

Against the other top four teams this season, Chelsea played six and won six. Arsenal, Manchester United, nor Manchester City managed to beat each other more than twice.

Chelsea had won the title ten days ago about the title with two games in Leigh Sports Village in the midst of Gedempte Feesten – partly because of the unexpected character of the victory, and partly because the disappointment of the 8-2 Champions League that was passed by Barcelona was still in the air.

But today, with the sun that hit Stamford Bridge, the blues could finally celebrate accordingly for their own fans.

The game itself was incredibly flat considering the circumstances. Liverpool, who played for pride and a position in the upper half of the table, kept the stadium well in the first half, defended well and limit the chances of Chelsea.

Sonia Bompastor called the changes during the break and they came close to Aggie Beever-Jones and Johanna Rytting Kanyd after the break.

But with the clock that taps in extra time, Ashley Lawrence succeeded in finding the pass to break the impasse.

Lawrence drifted the ball to Cobham graduate Aggie Beever-Jones, who arrived at the Liverpool Box and beat Rachael laws in her nearby post.

The 21-year-old starts to make a habit of stopping-time winners against this team, with the dreams of Liverpool about a first FA Cup final with her 94th minute goal here last month.

Regarding the praises that can still come the way of Chelsea, there is a FA Cup final and a domestic Treble still for grasping. Possible? Very.
