Chelsea is insisting on qualifying for the Champions League, with the side of Enzo Maresca well placed in the top five on the way to the last two games of the season.
Chelsea threatens to be banned from the Champions League, unless they agree with a UEFA question. With three games to go from the Premier League season, the blues are in fifth place, two points ahead of Nottingham Forest in the sixth.
Due to the co-efficient score of the Premier League, it would be the fifth qualification of Guarentee for next season's Champions League. Chelsea last played in the highest level of European competition in 2022/2023.
They reached that campaign the quarterfinals before they were thrown away by Real Madrid. The current task of the current boss Enzo Maresca for the rest of this season is to secure a top five finish for his side.
The Italian also led the blues to the final of the Europa Conference League, where they will play real betis. Winning that competition, or if sixth in the top flight, would see that Chelsea qualifies for next year's Europa League.
But the ownership situation at Stamford Bridge could cause problems for the blues. Their current owners are Blueco, with the consortium that also has a controlling interest in Ligue 1 Side Strasbourg.
They are currently sixth in the French top flight, enough to qualify for the Europa Conference League. But with two more games, they are only one point behind Monaco, who take the last qualifying place for Champions League group phase.
They are also only behind Nice, who is currently in fourth place, on target difference. The team that celebrated in Ligue 1 this season will have a place in the qualifications of the Champions League.
Strassbourg Face Angers and Le Harve in the last two games, fighting both parties against relegation. If Strassbourg wins both competitions and secure a place in the Champions League, this can cause problems.
UEFA rules prevent multi-club ownership models from working in their competitions. According to BBC Sport, Blueco has been in conversation with UEFA since January about moving to a structure that would meet the rules.
That would see Strasbourg moving a 'blind' confidence and removing all conflicts with board members or employees in the two clubs. Blueco could also reduce their interest in one of the clubs to satisfy UEFA.
That is what Evangelos Marinakis, owner of Nottingham Forest, has done for the possible qualification of Champions League, where Olympiakos is eligible for the competition by winning the Greek competition.
From a legal point of view, Marinakis has ceased to become a “person with considerable control” of the company that has forest. The Greek shipping magnate maintains his dedication to Bos, just like the owners from Chelsea to Strasbourg.
Strasbourg is led by the English boss Liam Rosenior and have been unbeaten since the international break of March, including the beating of champions PSG last week. UEFA would also forbid Chelsea and Strasbourg to make transfers of any kind between the two clubs if they end up in the same competition.
