Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca wants to sign some more experienced players this summer, but is not moving on the table for people like Kevin De Bruyne and Harry Kane
Chelsea is said to have excluded movements for four major players this summer, despite the fact that Enzo Maresca is happy to add more experience to his ranks. The blues have one of the youngest squadrons in the Premier League, without a player older than 28 years who makes a single appearance for the club this season.
And Maresca has shining on the need to sign experienced players in the summer and stated: “We are not that [just] young. We are the youngest team in the Premier League. And the second in European football.
“Look at the matches against Brighton and see our bank, we born three players in 2006. I don't remember years ago, for example when [Didier] Drogba was here and the manager changed Drogba who was sitting on the couch.
'Fernando Torres? Don't know. I don't know anymore. Now we are changing Nico [Jackson] With 2006, Tyrique [George] from the academy. Do you see that? I see that. “
Chelsea was interested in signing Virgil van Dijk on a free transfer from Liverpool, but the 33-year-old was a two-year contract extension instead. Kevin De Bruyne was associated with a potential return to Stamford Bridge after it was announced that he will leave Manchester City at the end of the season.
According to a report from the Telegraph, however, Chelsea is not interested in signing the midfielder in the midst of concern about how they could fit both De Bruyne and Cole Palmer in the same team.
The report also states that for experienced strikers Harry Kane, Victor Osimhen and Ollie Watkins are 'unlikely'. It is claimed that Chelsea is not only looking to sign 'older players', but instead keep an eye on movements for players with a lot of first-team experience, regardless of how old they are.
“I love Van Dijk,” said Maresca when he was asked about Chelsea's interest in the Liverpool captain. “He is a fantastic player and he will be in Liverpool again. In terms of experience, I think our team will have more experience next year and then we can be better.
“Certainly, if you have experience, you will undoubtedly have a little more. But those who are struggling in terms of experience this year, they have already been in terms of experience for another year. They can be better next year.”
Chelsea is currently two points of the Champions League places with four more games to play and Maresca has admitted that it will not be eligible for the club's transfer plans.
“Today, football is not like five or ten years ago when the rules were different,” he said. “Today's rules, you have to be careful with how much you spend because you can be banned [from competitions] Or not in the right place.
“It will be a very different kind of target if we end up in the Champions League or not.”
