Chelsea sent Jadon Sancho transfer message as ex-star learns of contract clause

Ex-chelsea wing player Florent Malouda is not impressed by Manchester United loaner Jadon Sancho since he moved to Stamford Bridge last summer

Florent Malouda has urged Chelsea to close a permanent deal for Jadon Sancho. The blues can pay the winger, who has collected four goals and 10 assists this season, for £ 25 million or alternative, a fine clause of £ 5 million to send him back to Manchester United.

Ex-Chelsea and France-star Malouda, however, is skeptical about a deal because of the inconsistent form of Sancho. He said to Racetipster: “I didn't see what I was expecting from him after he was on loan at Manchester United.

“For Jadon Sancho it's no longer about his talent. The point is more that we have not really shown Sancho that he really wants to succeed on the field with Chelsea.

“So at the moment I don't think it would be a good thing for him to stay in Chelsea, because I think the club will try to sign new players, so he will probably go back to Manchester United.”

Chelsea has now booked their ticket for Wroclaw for the UEFA Conference League final after successfully seen the Swedish outfit Djurgardens.

The side of Enzo Maresca also remains control of their own destination in the nerve-racking race of the Premier League for a top five finish after last weekend's 3-1 victory over Liverpool. But even if the blues in the interior fail, Malouda believes that Chelsea's season should be considered a success as they collect European silverware.

He continued: “Yes [season would still be successful]Because that would be a first title, a first trophy for this group of players under Enzo Maresca. The only way for me to judge a good season for Chelsea or a club is how many trophies you win at the end of the season.

“A victory is also not only about the trophy, a victory from the Conference League gives the players and fans hope and confidence in the project.

“With all that at stake for the club, and the manager, I think there is a lot of pressure and I think it is a must-win for the club, and that it will be a successful season, even if they don't get Champions League football.”

Cole Palmer also scored his first goal in 18 games against the Premier League champions of Arne Slot. Malouda believes that there has been too much pressure on the attacker's shoulders lately.

He concluded: “His first goal after a while was good for his confidence. There is so much expectation on him and he is the most important player, so it is physically and mentally demanding.

“I think this is where he should find the right balance. You have to see him enjoy his game, and I think you can get the lead there and make sure that you act in the top games and make the difference.”
