Cristiano Ronaldo sends Alexander Volkanovski a message following UFC 314 title win

Alexander Volkanovski showed that he is still one of the best pound-for-pound hunters in the sport when he lived back his featherweight title at UFC 314 in Miami last Saturday.

Back-to-back losses, fans were worried that the best days of Alexander Volkanovski could lie behind him if he was on his way to an empty title fight against Diego Lopes on UFC 314.

Nevertheless, Volkanovski set up a vintage performance in the main event, reclaiming his 145 pound title and making UFC history as the first hunter 35 or older to win a title in lightweight or lower.

Volkanovski also joined an exclusive list of hunters, including Georges St-Pierre, to have suffered and to come back and win the title back.

'The Great' Volkanovski had to overcome a lot of adversity in the fight because he was brought down early in the fight and then lost the sight in one of his eyes later in the fight.

However, his history performance showed exactly why he is one of the pound-for-pound best hunters, now ruling for the second time over the featherweight division.

And with his victory over Lopes, Volkanovski sent a message by Superstar footballer Cristiano Ronaldo.

After his knock -out loss for Islam Makhachev, Ronaldo the friend and teammate of Volkanovski, Israel Adesaya, asked how he did it when the two met during an event.

“Champ is back,” Ronaldo commented on Volkanovski who returned his title.

The superstar, who apparently is a pretty big fan of MMA, previously asked the title references of Ilia Topuria, which led to a short back and forth between the two.

Despite the suffering of back-to-back KO losses due to rapid passes, Volkanovsky hopes to surprisingly defend his title in July, as Movsar Evloev is likely to lead as the next candidate.

The rising featherweight, Jean Silva, however, hopes that it may be offered a surprise title fight, which explains the facts about why he should be the next.

Although the Brazilian quickly became a star in the promotion and on Saturday still achieved a hugely impressive victory over Bryce Mitchell, he probably needs at least one victory for a title shot.
