Erin Blanchfield showed rare flight weight almost two years before UFC debut.
Two battles after her loss of the first career against Tracy Cortez, Blanchfield faced Victoria Leonardo on Invicta FC 39. Blanchfield and Leonardo clashed in a flying weight on a card shared with people like Miranda Maverick, Pearl Gonzalez and Jillian Decoursey.
But it was Blanchfield who stole the show and attracted the attention of the UFC matchmakers with her performance in the Invicta Cage.
It was a back and forth first round between Leonardo and Blanchfield, while the two talented flying weights landed heavy strokes in the opening minutes of the fight. But Blanchfield was able to win the early CLINCH and Grip fairs, control Leonardo and prevent dangerous scenarios.
From nowhere in round 2, Blanchfield found an opening on a back tracking Leonardo, in which an annoying main kick landed that immediately eliminated her opponent. The victory left an emotional Blanchfield overwhelmed when she came one step closer to a phone call from the UFC buyer.
