Hansi Flick insisted on his Barcelona players not to become complacent in their last six games of the LaLiga season prior to Mallorca on Tuesday.
Barcelona are four points clearly at the top of the rankings, but were forced to dig deep to claim a 4-3 comeback victory on Celta Vigo in their last competition.
It was the second consecutive match that Barcelona had admitted three goals, with 3-1 down to Borussia Dortmund in the second stage of their quarter-final collision of Champions League.
Real Madrid is hot on their heels in the table, making it a 1-0 win over Athletic Bilbao on Sunday thanks to the winner of Federico Valverde.
“We always have to improve. After Dortmund, after Celta, we have to do much better. We have the quality to beat everyone, but we have to do well,” Flick told reporters.
“The comeback against Celta, that positive energy, that is the state of mind we need.
“Laliga has a high level and the goal is not to drop points, but it is not easy. We saw that against Celta.
“I hope it is a wake-up call. It's a long way. Madrid is fantastic and they also want to achieve their goals.”
Barcelona welcomes Mallorca at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Company in midweek, with the visitors who watch a place in Europe next season.
Mallorca has not defeated Barcelona in Laliga since a 2-1 victory in May 2009, but Flick has not underestimated the challenge for his team.
“Mallorca has a very good season. They can go to Europe. It will be a difficult game. They defend very well. They make good transitions,” said Flick.
It was suggested that Flick could rotate his team on Tuesday, with one eye on their Copa del Rey final against Clasico -Rivalen Madrid this weekend.
The boss of Barcelona challenged some of his dissatisfied marine players to do their talks on the field if they get the chance to do this.
Ansu Fati kicked a water cooler after he was not set against Celta, while Hector Fort and Flick had a heated exchange on the field after the game.
“I understand that they are not happy. I was a player myself. Everyone wants to prove themselves and help the team,” said Flick.
“I understand the feeling, but not the reaction. Victories must be celebrated. The reaction must be on the field.”
