Jonathan David out of contract in 2025 – “Barcelona have always been my team”
Jonathan David, a forward from Lille and Canada, has become one of the most watched in Europe by the continent's top clubs. David's contract expires next summer and has decided not to sign a new contract. He will be able to sign for free.
At 24, he is a goal scorer on the rise, he is a rare prospect on the market and has no shortage of suitors. Barcelona are keeping an eye on David, although likely as a rotation option rather than as a first-choice striker. Atletico Madrid also followed suit, but their interest has waned due to the competition. David is expected to receive offers from the Premier League, but Juventus and AC Milan have also been in contact with his agent.
David has told The Athletic that he is a Barcelona fan, which will boost their chances of signing him, as told by Sport.
“[Barca] was always the team I supported growing up. When you grow up supporting a team, it's a dream to play for them,” he noted
Barcelona have been linked with David in recent weeks, with sporting director Deco hoping to bring in extra help to ease the burden on the aging Robert Lewandowski. However, the Catalan giants are unlikely to be able to guarantee him a starting role, which could make negotiations a little trickier as they are unlikely to try to tip the balance with money.
