Jose Aldo confirms major career adjustment following UFC 315 weight issues

Jose Aldo will return for his third fight on 10 May since he returned to the Octagon in 2024.

Since December 2019, the former UFC -Fedweight champion has been competing at 135 pounds, which has been home for its last eight outings.

The Brazilian encountered some weight problems on the way to UFC 315, which now means that Aldo will be confronted against Aiemann Zahabi instead.

Zahabi was convinced to stop reducing the weight, despite the fact that he would have made the limit of the Bantam weight, so that the matchup could still continue in the Bell Center in Montreal.

Aldo has now confirmed that this recent issue had him reconsider his plans for the future after he has previously set a specific goal.

Jose Aldo gives up the goal of two division and connects to a featherweight

Jose Aldo is still considered the greatest featherweight of all time after what he achieved at 145 pounds where he was unbeaten for ten years.

Although the 38-year-old four losses since he had been to Bantamweight, two of which were very controversial split decisions, he has found some success in a second weight class.

Many fans called on Aldo to permanently go back to featherweight after he had seen him struggle when stepping on the scales before UFC 315.

Aaron Brandsteter of Sportsnet later, after talking to the former champion, confirmed that he acknowledged that making 135 pounds, when he usually walks around at 160, is no longer a feasible option.

Aldo stated that he originally moved a weight class to try to become a two -division champion, but after this weekend he will return to feather weight for what will probably be the last few fights of his career.

“Jose Aldo tells me that his target fights at Bantamweight was to become a two -division champion. He says he is walking around with around 160 pounds. He started to realize that his house is at 145 pounds and he expects to fight against featherweight.”

Jose Aldo is welcomed back in featherweight by a dream opponent for him on 145 pounds

Jose Aldo not only goes back to featherweight a good move for his own health, it also gives us the opportunity to see some new matchups now that he has disappeared from the division since 2019.

Fans called to see the legendary former champion among his colleague Brazilian, Patricio Pitbull, from the moment the former Bellator star came to the schedule.

Pitbull posted on social media to welcome Aldo back in the Feedweight Division after his debut loss for Yair Rodriguez on UFC 314.

Regardless of whether Aldo wins or loses on Saturday evening, a dream conflict with Pitbull is logical for both men in the near future, especially if it can take place in Brazil.
