Khamzat Chimaev pronounced for the first time since reports came out of an injury that threatened his shot at the UFC title.
The Swede is unofficially added to tackle Drus Du Plessis at UFC 317 as a headliner of International Fight Week in Las Vegas. However, a report from Kevin Iole this week has become viral today, where he notes that an injury to the champion led the competition to be postponed to a later date.
It was never officially announced that the couple would fight at the big event, but fans had theoretizing that it was the only competition that was useful for such a big lock. Now it is unclear what the main event will be the largest map of the year.
Khamzat Chimaev responds while Dricus Du Persis is fighting UFC 317 in Jeopardy
On Friday evening, UFC -Sinsider Kevin Iole wrote an article on his website in which future options for Islam Makhachev were examined on top of the lightweight division. The experienced reporter demolished in a line in the direction of that Notes International Fight Week may need a headliner after Dricus Du Plessis was injured.
“I hear that Dricus Du Plessis was injured,” Iole wrote in a paragraph that was buried halfway through the piece. “And although there has been no confirmation, if that is correct, a match between Du Plessis and Khamzat Chimaev could not lead IFW.”
This quote went viral today in MMA Twitter, with fans who speculate about the future of the South African. And Chimaev has been brought to his social media to share his own message that share his frustration about the situation.
“This guy biggest bulls -” Chimaev wrote next to an emoji of someone who put his face in their hands. It is unclear whether he says this about Du Plessis, or possibly Iole in response to the report false. A veteran of decades in the game, but it is rare that Iole gets information if it gets wrong.
Dricus du Plessis would like to fight Khamzat Chimaev
After bringing Sean Strickland to the Zwaard to UFC 312 in February, the South African conversations about a super fight with former division champion Alex Pereira rejected. At the time, the Brazilian kept slightly heavyweight gold and could have given his rival a chance on a second world title.
But Du Plessis shifted his focus to the difficult challenge of Chimaev, who is unbeaten and one of the most feared hunters in the UFC. “I want to make sure that with this belt, the middleweight title, there is no doubt that I am the goat of the middleweight division,” Du Plessis explained.

“But it's not about how often you defend, it's about who you fight, how you defend it and in what period you did it. I don't hurry that my next fight is Alex Pereira. No. I want Khamzat next. He deserves a blockage.”
