Man Utd will look on enviously at touching UCL gesture from PSG president

Paris Saint-Germain has reached the final of the Champions League, with President Nasser Al-Khelaifi attempting to show his appreciation to all employees of the club

The staff of Manchester United will look jealously at things in Paris Saint-Germain after the French giants invited all their employees for the final of the Champions League. At the end of the month, PSG will be confronted with Inter Milan during the showpiece event in Munich.

This is the second time in five years that PSG has reached the final, although they offer to win the competition for the first time. Their only European title came back in 1996 with the Cup Winners' Cup.

But they are now the favorites to finally break their Champions League Hoodoo under the management of the impressive Luis Enrique. With his club on the edge of history, President Nasser Al-Khelaifi has decided to reward the staff of PSG for their hard work.

The gift from Qatari comes in the form of an invitation to travel to the Allianz Arena. The tickets stem from the 18,000 allocation given by UEFA to the French giants for the huge game in Germany.

Al-Khelaifi announced the news in a club-wide e-mail sent on Friday morning. Every employee will soon be informed of the practical regulations, where PSG wants to show their appreciation.

According to RMC Sport, Al-Khelaifi emphasized in his e-mail on the collective success of the club, “from the players on the field to our technical staff, including all teams in every PSG department”, to explain his approach.

The gift from Al-Khelaifi is in stark contrast to United's approach for last year's FA Cup final. The Red Devils stood opposite Manchester City in Wembley, forced with staff to pay for return trips, as well as accommodation and food from their own pocket.

That was a cost-saving relocation of controlling co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and it is still to see how the club will approach staff cards for the Europa League final. Al-Khelaifi tries to create a more healthy atmosphere in the Parc des Princes.

After the semi-final in Arsenal, he said: “If you had told me, three games before the end of the group stage, when we may not be eligible for the play-offs, that we would come there … but I have always had faith in my players, in my coach, the staff.

“I felt that there was something special this season, on the field, of that, everyone who fights for each other, everyone happy and proud to fight on the sweater. The supporters were beautiful again.”

Boss Enrique is desperate to finally bring the Champions League trophy to the French capital. He said on Friday: “This will be the first final of the Champions League with the fans. Without them it is not really a final. If a team deserves to win, after waiting for so long, it is PSG.

“I know that the club was founded in the year that I was born. Let's hope that this connection turns out to be true and that we can protect the Champions League. We will try to be the first. The problem is that there will certainly be one team that will not succeed with Inter Milan, but I hope we win.

“When the festive moments arrive, there is nothing better than giving our work to others. We will try to end with the icing on the cake. The team and the fans deserve it. We deserve this opportunity to play in this final, just like last year.”
