During his wait for Jones, Aspinall Records broke with his interim title rule, but with 'Bones' at the end of his career, the division needs new and exciting contenders to test the Brit.

Gable Steveson has trained with Jones in the past and could be the man to inject some more energy in heavyweight as one of the best wrestlers on the planet.

Gable Steveson confirms MMA transition to dreams to become a UFC Heavyweight Champion

In a recent appearance on Mike Perry's overlook, Gable Steveson outlined his current career ambitions that had previously investigated several other potential paths.

The 24-year-old has already tried his hand at pro wrestling and football and signed at the WWE in 2021 before he signed with the Buffalo Bills in 2024.

MMA was another potential route for him to follow after his remarkable wrestling career where he won gold at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.

Steveson has now confirmed that the Octagon is the goal he works with dreams to become UFC champion in the future.

“Man, I want to turn on the gloves. I want to be a UFC star, I want to become a champion. I want to keep that belt high and be in the heavyweight division and I think the most important thing is, take the time and make sure that everything is polished and right when I shoot out of that rocket ship, there is no stop.”

Steveson was later asked which opponents he dreams of making in the UFC.

He further said that he wants to test himself against all the best boys in the world, where interim champion Tom Aspinall is mentioned as the man he expects to stay at the top of the division as soon as Jon Jones calls the time on his career.

“When Jon finally hangs it up, the next best man Tom Aspinall is. [Ciryl] Ganes, you want to [Alexander] Volkovs, you want to go against Sergeis [Pavlovich]And you want to set up your best performance, but frankly it doesn't matter.

“There has never been a time when I ran from someone else and now it will not be time. When that day comes where I have to stand in the Octagon and look at another guy in my eyes and fight death, we will fight against it.”

Gable Steveson is about his MMA transition in the right way based on his early comments

While Gable Steveson may dream of becoming a UFC champion, that goal is still far away in the distance, but the accomplished wrestler acknowledges that.

It would be easy for the 24-year-old to earn a quick road for the UFC, but it seems that he chooses to use the work behind the scenes before trying to compete at the highest level.

We recently saw at UFC des Moines that at that time another much -praised wrestler, Bo Nickal, encountered adversators for the first time after a rapid turnout, he crumbled.

Nickal's setback showed that he needs more time and experience to continue his MMA transition and that is something that Steveson clearly takes into account.
