Patrick Mahomes led the tribute to Gadi Kinda after the former sporting midfielder of Kansas City died at the age of only 31.

The Israeli club Maccabi Haifa announced the tragic news on Tuesday. Kinda was born in Ethiopia but represented Israel at international level.

Earlier this month it was revealed that the 31-year-old had been admitted to the hospital while “a complex medical battle continued in recent weeks.”

Kinda returned to Israel to become a member of Maccabi Haifa after the 2023 season. He had spent four seasons with Sporting Kansas City and scored 14 goals in 64 ml matches.

Mahomes is part of the ownership group of the football team and he was one of them to pay tribute to a little after his death.

“Pray for his family and friends!” The Quarterback from Chiefs wrote on social media.

Sporting KC also wrote on social media that they were 'deeply sad' due to the death on their former midfielder.

“Our hearts are with Gadi's family, his friends, teammates and everyone who knew him,” the team wrote.

A bit last played for Maccabi Haifa on March 29. A few weeks later, on 10 May, sporting KC players posed with his sweater prior to their match against Portland Timbers.

“During his four seasons with Kansas City from 2020 – 2023, Gadi was a favorite with fans for his excellent game on the field, his passion for the sport and his spirit of kindness and his generosity for everyone around him,” wrote MLS on social media.

“We extend our deepest sympathies for Gadi's family, friends, fans and everyone with Sporting Kansas City.”
