There has been a lot of discussion about whether Real Madrid will sign a midfielder this summer, and they will – albeit, not for the first team. Instead, they are expected to bring in a talented young person who will come in one of the LA Fabrica teams.
Real Madrid is always looking for top talents of the top, and in particular they have identified players from Spain. Lamine Fati arrived in January of the Leganes' Academy and he will soon be accompanied by another highly rated younger.
As reported by Relroo, Real Madrid has agreed a deal to sign Leo Westin from Las Palmas in the summer. The 16-year-old midfielder, who can also operate in the central defense, has been scouted by Los Blancos in recent months and they have now taken their step to add him to La Fabrica.
Real Madrid has high expectations of Westin, and according to those within the club, the Swedish Youth International has a similar playing style like Toni Kroos, who left Los Blancos last summer after a trophy-loaded 10-year spell in the Santiago Bernabeu.
Upon arrival of Westin in Real Madrid in the summer, he is assigned to one of the squadrons in La Fabrica. The most likely result is that he joins the U17s or U18s, but there is a chance that he will be promoted to the U19s, which are in an impressive season under head coach Alvaro Arbeloa, who will be promoted to Castilla manager before the start of the 2025-26 campaign.
Westin is certainly the first of many young players that Real Madrid draws this summer, because they keep looking at the quality of La Fabrica. It is still to be seen who else is coming.
