‘Real Madrid not planning summer signings currently’ says Carlo Ancelotti

While Real Madrid is still being connected to a number of players for summer transfer movements this summer, manager Carlo Ancelotti has claimed that the club is currently not planning their movements in the upcoming window. That is despite the fact that a deal is reportedly almost done with Liverpool Rechtsback Trent Alexander-Arnold to arrive for free in the summer.

Los Blancos has lately also linked to a number of other players, such as Dean Huijsen, William Saliba and Martin Zubimendi, but there has been a consistent line that the club will do these players once the season ends. Ancelotti was asked if he and the club were planning for next season, a question that was more focused on his future instead of transferring speculation.

“We never thought of signing sessions during the season here. The club always thinks about signing sessions at the end of the season.”

That was a frequent subject during his press conference prior to Getafe on Wednesday evening. He was also asked if he wanted to take revenge next season against the injuries that capsized their plans this season.

“To be honest, I don't need any revenge against someone or anyone. I love this couch. I thought it was great the first time, I love the second time. I hope this will continue for as long as possible, and if it ends one day, I will be grateful and take my hat for this club. Nothing anymore.”

For Ancelotti, the pressure was not a big problem.

“The club is aware that this has been a more complicated year than the previous one. And together we deal with the difficulties. The honeymoon goes on. I am very happy, very satisfied, under a lot of pressure, but this is always the case. You see success so close, and it is normal to increase stress, but stress is fuel for me.

Even if he admitted that those mistakes were made this season.

“It could have been done better, it could have been done better. I have to take responsibility for some mistakes. But this is an evaluation that we can make at the end of the season, and hopefully this consideration will fade in the background.”

On Monday it was confirmed that Xabi Alonso, who is generally expected to follow Ancelotti on Real Madrid, could leave for Los Blancos this year or the next. However, if Ancelotti has secured a large change and a Copa del Rey and La Liga Double managed to seal it, that might open the door to his continuity.
