Robert Whittaker to headline UFC Abu Dhabi against soaring middleweight contender

Robert Whittaker has booked his first fight since he lost a devastating way last October in search of the middleweight title interview.

After impressive victories over Paulo Costa and Ikram Aliskerov, Robert Whittaker placed himself firmly back in the middleweight title interview and knocked at the door of Dricus Du Plessis.

Despite that, he was subsequently linked to Khamzat Chimaev in October in UFC 308, which unfortunately lost a devastating way after Chimaev had crushed his jaw in the first round.

And now, a few months away from his brutal loss that required surgery, 'The Reaper' has been booked for his next fight.

Robert Whittaker's next fight booked against the rising competition in the middleweight

This Saturday the news broke that the next fight of the former middleweight champion was booked to meet the rising competition of the middleweight, Reinier de Ridder.

Since he joined the Premier promotion in 2024, the Dutch hunter has scored three impressive victories on the leap and he first scored a submission victory on fellow jokes, Gerald Meerschaert.

The former championship champion of the championship then scored a victory in the first round at Kevin Holland, which showed that he would be a big threat in the UFC 185LB division.

His most impressive victory, however, came to UFC des Moines last Saturday when he took the unbeaten record of Bo Nickal from him and scored a TKO victory of the second round after a great knee to the body.

Whittaker vs de Ridder will return the return of the UFC to Abu Dhabi on July 26, and with a victory over 'The Reaper' De Ridder would immediately claim himself in the title after just a year in the promotion.

The middleweight division moves in the right direction

Du Plessis, the current king of the division, is still waiting for his likely fight against Khamzat Chimaev, with fans who keep calling to happen.

And with the constant calls, Du Plessis recently gave a positive update, which states that the fight will probably take place in the next 2-4 months.

That is, despite the fact that rumors popped up with regard to a serious injury to Du Plessis, who later turned out to be false when the champion shot them down.
