Saints’ groundsman calls out Ruben Dias in hilarious X post after his pitch rant

Southampton's Grondsman closed Ruben Dias and claimed: “You know nothing” after the bizarre anger of the Manchester City across the Stary field.

Dias, 27, and his teammates from the city continued to smoke on Saturday afternoon, because they could not score against one of the worst teams in the Premier League history.

In fact, the 0-0-sign game at St. Mary's ensured that Saints went on to 12 points and avoided the worst count of Derby ever.

The result can also have large implications at the top of the table, where City still has no place in the Champions League of next season.

And the frustrations of Dias came into a bitter moan after the embarrassing result.

The Portuguese defender said: “We try it and we have to be better, we must be more dynamic, faster.

“It was also not easy to be fast because the field was just dry with the sun, it was hot.

“It is sad for Southampton to waste time as they do. They just want to stop the game and make it as slow as possible because the grass is dry.

“But we have to be better.”

But that led to a hilarious reaction from Southampton Grondsman Steve New.

He went to social media with a photo of the St Mary's pitch and looked in unspoilt condition.

And new wrote: “@Rubendias look at all the sand.

“And the irrigation was on the early morning, pre-heating, pre-game and for the entire peace.

“I respect your football capacities, but you know nothing about being a land person.”

That led to a number of witty and sarcastic answers.

One said, “I have seen worse carpets. A bit too salty eh ruben.”

And another wrote: “Looks like a carpet. He is just sad that they played us twice and only won 1-0 haha.”

Dias also complained about Southampton's defensive non-ambitious tactics and accused Aaron Ramsdale of time waste.

The £ 64.5 million center -back – that dating with Maya Jama – has made: “It is clearly frustrating to play against a team like this.

“They don't even try something, they just sit and don't even want to play or win the game, they just want to be there.

'Backhands compliment'

“It's not good for the show, it's not good for itself, it's not good for anyone. But it's what it is.

“The funny thing is that we do what Aaron Ramsdale did once and immediately it is a yellow card. He does it 20 times and it's just playing.

“It is clear that this slows down the game and it just helps them consistently.”

Ironically, his own manager is closed the comments by insisting that Southampton is free to “do what they want” in their approach to the competition and admitted that it was “on us to break them”.

Saints Interim boss Simon Rusk also responded to Dias.

He said: “What a player. It is not frustrating, we wanted to frustrate them.

“It's a back-handy compliment. If we go toe with them, we lose.

“We have a fifth of their budget. We have to find our way and that's okay.”

Southampton then tweeted brilliantly an hour after full -time: “A point without even trying to play.”

But another post from the Saints administrator came under fire when they sent a message to Derby after surpassing their low 11-point count.

The club wrote: “Sorry if we have hope you, @DCFCofficial.”
