Tottenham suffer MAJOR injury blow ahead of Europa League clash as Son Heung-min stays at home for Frankfurt second leg

Tottenham has been hit for their hope to reach the semi-final of the Europa League prior to their match away from Eintracht Frankfurt.

Ange Postecoglou revealed that Captain Son Heung-Min did not travel for the last eight-stage on Thursday.

Spurs were held at home last week on a 1-1 draw, a match in which Son started and played 79 minutes before he was addicted to Pape Sarr.

Winning the Europa League would mean the end of Tottenham's 17-year-old trophy-dried, after he last won the EFL Cup in 2008.

But the hope of Postecoglou to bring silverware back to N17 has taken an unfortunate set-back.

He said on Wednesday: “Sonny did not travel in the end. He is the only one fog. He trained yesterday but did not feel well.

'We left him out and peace is the best way of recovery. It is only Sonny who misses. '

This season Son has made 41 performances for Spurs, scored 11 goals and offers 10 assists in those competitions.

In the Europa League, the South Korean is their joint scorer (three goals) alongside Brennan Johnson.

In addition to son, Radu Dragusin is of course absent for the visitors while recovering from an ACL injury that he sustained in February.

In the meantime, it is expected that Kevin Danso will not return until his earliest next Monday, when Spurs Nottingham Forest hosts in the Premier League.

If Spurs progresses against Frankfurt, they would be confronted with Bodo/Glimt or Lazio in the semi -final of the Europa League.

Glorie in the competition would put an end to an absence of three years in the Champions League for Tottenham, because it would protect them of automatic qualification for the largest club match in Europe in 2025-26.
