Italiano delighted with Bologna after victory over AC Milan

Rafael Leao led Milan before Santiago Castro and then Ndoye turned the game for Bologna when they won 2-1.

“I saw another fantastic reaction from the team to find out in a match where we, in my opinion, played well against one of the fastest attackers who are dangerous on the counterattack,” Italiano told Dazn.

“The way the boys keep their heads do not give up and things can turn around, can win us because of these kinds of competitions. It is clear that a goal against Milan means that any light distraction can be devastating, but we saw the character of these players again.

“With these three points, our position in the table will be really impressive.”

Italiano also said: “Our next game is on Sunday, so imagine how much time we have to recover and prepare. When I saw Castro and Dominguez, lost intensity, it was good to bring fresh legs. Odgaard, Cambiaghi and Dallinga gave us that extra boost that we were missing in the last 20 minutes.

“When the substitutes come up with this attitude, this benefits the entire team and makes a real difference. The enthusiasm we have at home is even more powerful and pushes us ahead.

“I told the players before the kick -off that this would be played with the pace, intensity and spirit of the Champions League. We had to challenge ourselves at their level. I am happy that we bring players such as Odgaard and Ferguson back to full fitness, while Orsolini has only recently returned and is not at 100 percent.

“If we have so many options, we can rotate and have a starting XI to do a great achievement.”
