Carragher predicts what we’ll see next from Mo Salah after his contract renewal

Mohamed Salah can sharpen Liverpool's attack with a renewed threat in his mid -thirty thanks to his 'evolving' game, says Jamie Carragher.

The winger has received a new two -year contract with a value of £ 380,000 a week and looks just as powerful as always.

Salah, 32, has broken the Premier League record for most goals and assists in a season of 38 games with 45 contributions – and six games left.

His 18 assists count is also a Liverpool record for a Premier League season.

And Carragher and Thierry Henry are of the opinion that the evolution of Salah to a deadly assister is what will help him stay relevant – even if he will not run around as much as he gets older.

“It will be interesting if that jump in figures will remain the same in the next two years,” Carragher Monday Night Football said.

“The evolution of Salah, he has always been a goal scorer, but he has not always received these assists. I think when Liverpool goes on the market in the summer, they are looking for someone with a real pace.

'I think we might see more of Mo Salah, where he is the man who does not always walk behind people, but where he gets the ball in the bag and feeds people and plays people.

'Normal Wingers put the ball in the box and hopefully one of the attacking players will understand.

'Often this season, it feels like he doesn't cross, he passes it in the box. When I think of the assists that Mo Salah has this season, they are this kind of help. A pass to the rear post and someone who comes in. '

Henry added: 'If you can do both (score and assistant), it is just excellent.

“The desire he has had to adjust and be better. You don't have many players who adapt while they are at the top. They do it if it's too late. The numbers are just ridiculous. '

Salah has now surpassed Henry, who had 44 targets for Arsenal in the 2002-03 season and Manchester City Forward Erling Haaland, who matched that performance 20 years later.

There is now a record on the Horizon for Salah, while he wants to overtake Alan Shearer and Andrew Cole, who each registered 47 targeted involvement for Newcastle and Blackburn for 42 game seasons respectively.

It has been a wonderful season for Salah, who has contributed so far this season with 27 goals and 18 assists in the Premier League.

Salah was associated with a move to Saudi Aarabia and stated in November that he was 'more out than in' with regard to his future in Liverpool.

Salah, however, expressed his joy to stay in Liverpool.

'Of course I am very excited. We now have a great team. Before that we also had a great team. But I signed because I think we have the chance to win other trophies and enjoy my football, “he told the club website.

“It's great, I've had my best years here. I played eight years, hopefully it will be 10. Enjoy my life here, enjoying my football. I had the best years in my career.

“I would like to say [the fans]I am very, very happy to be here. I signed here because I believe we can win many big trophies together. Keep supporting us and we give it our best, and hopefully we will win more trophies in the future. '

In August 2023, Al-Eittihad had rejected an £ 150 million bid for Salah.
