EPL clubs weigh up move for Greenwood with the star pining for return to England

Two Premier League clubs weigh to Marseille Vooruit Mason Greenwood this summer – and he would like to return to England, say reports.

Greenwood, 23, has impressed during his debut campaign in France, after he has scored 19 goals in all competitions so far, but it is said that he is yearning for home.

The striker, whose last game came to the Premier League in January 2022, has informed various teams and they could move for him in the coming months.

According to the Telegraph, who claims that interest is growing in the top flight and that Greenwood would welcome a return to his native country of North England.

Greenwood completed his transfer of £ 27 million to Ligue 1 Giants Marseille last summer and ended his 17-year-old association with Manchester United after he was arrested before he was accused of attempting rape, assault and controlling and compelling behavior.

The charges against the player were dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service after the 'withdrawal of important witnesses and new material that comes to light'.

Greenwood violently denied the allegations.

He spent a season on loan with Getafe in Laliga before he signed for Marseille under former head coach Roberto de Zerbi of Brighton.

However, there is a disagreement between those who are close to Greenwood about whether he feels ready to return to the Premier League. It is said that he has excluded a 'step down' in England after leaving United.

But with sources that indicate to De Telegraaf that at least two top flight outfits are considering a movement, the attitude of Greenwood could be tested in the summer.

The sun also reported that Greenwood is ready to end his time of England.

The outlet quoted a source that claimed that he and his partner Harriet Robson – with whom he shares two young daughters – initially 'loved' anonymity abroad and that the move allowed the couple to 'rebuild their lives' in Madrid.

“He loved the fact that he could just play football and his life outside the field was not the subject of such an intense focus,” the source told the publication.

After almost two years abroad, however, it is said that the 'novelty' has left, with the 'introvert' Greenwood missing his family and friends at home.
