Gerrard sets for return to Rangers but faces competition from sacked EPL bosses

Steven Gerrard can be set for a sensational return to Rangers.

Gerrard, 44, has been a free agent since January after his bitter exit of Saudi-Outfit al-Etifaq and is looking for his next challenge.

According to the Telegraph, that could lead the Liverpool legend to Ibrox, where his management career officially started.

The former international in England took place at the Gers in 2018 and enjoyed enormous success during his three -year enchantment when he won Scottish premiership in 2021.

And Rangers would like a reunion with the scouse tacticus because they are looking for a permanent replacement for Philippe Clement, which was fired in February. Former midfielder has since been temporarily in the indictment.

Gerrard is part of a long list of candidates who are said to encounter double digits.

The will of former Wolves manager Gary O'Neil, ex-Luton Town boss Rob Edwards and Russell Martin, who were recently dismissed by Southampton, are also considered.

O'Neil had a short but impressive stint with Bournemouth and Wolves before he became a free agent.

Edwards stood out at Luton when he led them to the Premier League two years ago.

And Martin has history with Rangers while in 2018 as a player he underwent a loan period before he looked after it at MK Dons, Swansea and of course Saints.

There are also foreign head coaches that are followed by club heads in the midst of the final phase of the season.

Nevertheless, it is thought that it is an open race without a clear favorite for the top track.

Rangers could offer Gerrard a second chance in his new career, because he saw his stock fall after two failed Stints in Aston Villa and Al-Attifaq.

The legendary midfielder joined Villa on November 2021 – in the same year he ended the nine -year -old dominance of Celtic in Prime Ministers.

After a positive first season in Villa Park, Gerrard did not succeed in maintaining it and was rejected after a series of poor results and performance on October 2022.

The Liverpool Great then made the big leap for the Saudi Pro League in 2023, but left the table with his team 12th months later and five points above the relegation zone.
