Manchester City Striker Erling Haaland is excluded with an ankle injury for the rest of the season, but has plagued that he could be on the field earlier instead of later
Erling Haaland has hinted that he is not far from a comeback, even though he was initially excluded for the season. The Norwegian striker was injured earlier this month in the FA Cup victory of Manchester City against Bournemouth.
After he was seen and left the Vitality Stadium with a protective boot, Stadsbaas Pep Guardiola then suggested that the campaign of Haaland was over. In a press conference he said: “Doctors told me five to seven weeks. He will return at the end of the season and for the club World Cup will be ready.”
Haaland wrote on Instagram at that time and seemed to be good. He placed an image of himself who kept his crutches in the air with the caption: “I am coming back.” And it seems that the promise could soon come true after his last activity on social media. The striker shared a video on Instagram of his who runs into a club gymnal before he said, “We'll get there.”
Haaland had scored 30 goals in 40 games before his injury. But City has found a considerable form since his absence, after he was unbeaten since he was excluded.
His backup Omar Marmoush has scored six Premier League goals since his arrival of Eintracht Frankfurt. That form follows the promise of Guardiola that City would find a way to cope with their starers.
He said: “We will find a solution … we have no other player with his [Haaland’s] Skills or specific qualities. We have to adjust. We need players with other qualities and we have to bring more players with a feeling of goal close to the box.
“That is certainly. Because Erling's figures have of course been exceptional and he is our incredible threat to many things, for the long balls, for the feeling of goal.”
