Immediately after the victory of Della Maddalena in the main event, the Russian went to social media to explain that his next fight will come to the Australian, stating that his plan is to become a double champion.
Although Della Maddalena is not teammates with Alexander Volkanovski, the two good friends, and in his Octagon interview the Australian stated that he wants to beat Makhachev for Volkanovski after he had suffered two losses for the Russian.
“You are not Volkanovski, I will show you different levels. Keep my belt clean,” Makhachev told Della Maddalena in a post on social media.
Volkanovski and Makhametev fought for the first time in 2023 on UFC 284 when Makhachev very closely won the unanimous decision in what was extremely close to fight.
