Jean Silva calls for a title shot against Alexander Volkanovski
Another featherweight competition that took a huge victory over the UFC 314 head card was the former title -publisher Yair Rodriguez.
And with that UFC commentator Joe Rogan suggested an incredible matchup between Silva and Rodriguez, in what guaranteed fireworks would be.
The Brazilian prospect, however, has declared his claim for a featherweight title fight against Alexander Volkanovski, who set up a vintage performance in the main event to reclaim his 145 pound title.
“I don't think anyone is going to give me something. If it's not a title shot, then it's better a fight that takes me there,” Silva started in a statement about X.
“But let's look at the facts. People said he wants to stay active and see the best in the division. I have already proven that I earn it and that I am the best. Diego Lopes has a title shot with 5 victories and 1 loss, with 2 of those victories per decision while I have 5 victories.
“This is the fight that makes sense. I deserve it and I am ready,” Silva continued.
Although he was not arranged prior to UFC 314, 'Lord' Silva is now in 11th place in the division and will undoubtedly be in the title interview after a new impressive victory.
“If I don't earn a title shot, I don't know who does that. I trust the UFC, Dana White, Hunter Campbell and Sean Shelby. I am ready for whatever they decide.”
The next title defense of Volkanovski could already be set
Although the Fighting Nerd is hopeful on a surprise title, Volkanovski received an immediate callout from undefeated competition, Movsar Evloev.
And with that the Australian stated that he would like to return to action in July, which fans were worried, given his back-to-back KO losses to Islam Makhakev and Ilia Topuria in what a quick turnaround was.
Nevertheless, the 35-year-old was always one of the most active champions, and for his second reign he wants to continue with his impressive activity.
