Earlier this month, James Rodriguez ended his horror five-month spell in La Liga when he agreed to terminate his contract with Rayo Vallecano. In total, the former Real Madrid man made just seven appearances in all competitions for the Vallecas side, and has since joined Club Leon in Mexico.
It is said that the vast majority of those associated with Rayo are happy to see the back of James, but head coach Inigo Perez told the media (via Relevo) that he does not feel that way.
“I don't see James' departure as a relief. He has only been there for a short time and has behaved very well towards everyone. The fact that he's gone now means he didn't find what they were looking for, but I wish him the best.
“I can't say anything I didn't say about James at the time. I can repeat what I have said in recent weeks. As for the days when I said I couldn't talk, it's still the same. Hopefully those explanations can be given one day. What I will do is self-criticize because I didn't get the most out of James.”
Rayo has already left James behind, and it is true that his absence is unlikely to be felt much between now and the end of the season.
