Real Madrid 1-2 Arsenal (Agg 1-5): Gunners to face PSG in semis, Saka on target

Bukayo Saka scored a goal and missed a penalty when Arsenal Real Madrid decreases to reach the semi -final of the Champions League in an incident pack match in the Bernabeu.

Arsenal had a 3-0 aggregated lead to defend after their excellent victory in the first stage last week and they got the chance to silence the noisy home support when they were fined 13 minutes.

Saka got up, but his weak, broken effort was saved by Thibaut Courtois.

The England attacker, however, made up for his Miss when he effectively killed the draw with a fantastic demolished second half finish over Courtois after the smart pass by Mikel Merino.

Real struck only two minutes later when a terrible mistake by William Saliba Vinicius Junior donated with an open goal to score.

But Real was unable to take advantage of that spark of Hoop and Gabriel Martinelli declined a glorious night by bringing the score to 2-1 in a stop time with a separated goal, re-set up by Merino.

It is only the third time that Arsena has reached the semi-final of the Champions League and they will be confronted with the last four opposite Paris St-Germain.

The home crowd, which had built up an excellent atmosphere and hoped to generate a comeback that would be remembered for years, thought their side back in the draw had shortly after Saka's Spot-Kick Miss when they got their own fine.

But a long check with the Video Assistant Referee destroyed the referee's decision after Kylian Mbappe had thrown himself on the ground after minimal contanct from Declan Rice.
