Paul Scholes has fired Manchester United Baas Ruben Amorim for sacrificing the Premier League in favor of a Europa League run.
The Red Devils reached the final of Europe's secondary club competition this week with a 7-1 total victory over Athletic Bilbao.
The European Run of United has brought some respite to their sad competition, which has left them in 15th place in the present table.
In recent weeks, Amorim has clearly given priority to the Europa League with its team selections, a decision that club legend Scholes has irritated.
The TNT Sports Pundit said: “Manchester United should be able to play in two or three games at the same time without sacrificing anything, and they clearly sacrificed the competition.
“I don't like it and I don't agree and I believe there should be some kinds of standards needed in a Premier League team.
“It's almost like they go to Premier League matches and there is an acceptance that they are not going to win the game, which is madness.
“I think everyone's acceptance came from everyone.”
Scholes is firmly convinced that one figure is the fault of the fact that United apparently resigned in losing their league matches.
He continued: “I think it comes from the manager, even if he will not admit it.
“He doesn't play teams to win football matches in the competition.
“I think even fans think:” Let's get rid of these competition matches because the competition has been a disaster. “
“They probably think:” Play who you want, we don't care. “
“There is an acceptance, which I think it is wrong, because the Premier League is your bread and butter.
“But if you are going to get Champions League football by winning the Europa League, it will all be forgotten, I hope.
“There is that bad taste in your mouth that the Premier League form is so bad, and they can regret it next year.
“I think the manager should use this time to learn how to win games if you don't play so well, because it will happen again next year.
“I don't think you can just change a button next season and suddenly you will see them play brilliantly in the competition.
“I think it is rather risky to sacrifice the Premier League for the following year Champions League football.”
United will be confronted with well -known opposition in Tottenham – who defeated Bodo/Glimt in their semi -final draw – in this month's Europa League final in Bilbao.
