Barcelona will not win the Champions League this season, but their efforts in the competition have been praised by many in recent months. And the last to praise the Catalan side is Real Madrid Icon Toni Kroos.
Speaking on his podcast 'Einfach Mal Luppen' (via MD), Kroos discussed the recent semi -final between Inter and Barcelona. He admitted that he was very surprised about the ability of the Blaugrana to release their opponents relatively. In this respect he gave the honor to Hansi Flick, who was previously his manager of the German national team.
“In the first stage they lost 2-0, and in the second stage they were also 2-0 down. And normally you can't come back to Inter because they have a very solid defense, but when you see how Barcelona football is playing football, you have to congratulate Hansi film and Barcelona on this performance.
“There is a very high level of collective and individual quality. It is amazing how they played from the 45th minute, or indeed during the second half, against an opponent who knows how to defend well, but they could find space and achieve the goal. One of the things that surprised me the most about Barcelona was how weak Inter's defense was, but in this game.”
Kroos also spoke about the notorious High-Line tactics of Barcelona, with he believes it was some lucky to be so effective, since their starting central defenders do not miss a pace.
“Iñigo Martínez and Cubarsí are much better than Arajo, but they do not have the speed and then it is an even greater risk when they catch up with you. That was the risk that they names and it gives them a lot of success and impressive victories, but as I thought, the day would be punished, and it was with Inter.”
