Footballer bizarrely presented with DEAD PIG as prize for being named MOTM

A Norwegian club has brought the spotlight … by presenting their husband of the competition with a dead pig.

Fifth Varhaug organized their top-flight local rivals Bryne in the Norwegian Cup on Sunday.

Bryne had caused a stir last month in handing keeper Jan de Boer four trays eggs in their own bizarre MOTM Award.

But Varhaug, located in the same rustic Rogaland area, wanted to prove that they are the real “farmer's team” of the southwest of the province.

And after their 4-0 defeat, civil servants Star Man Sondre Dersgsdal presented with a freshly beaten 50 pound Porker.

Manager Sigrid Lode Knutsen said: “We came to the conclusion that we had to go faster than the 'city dwellers' from Bryne.

“The real farmers come from Varhaug.”

In the meantime, Bryne, the former club of Erling Haaland, has sworn to continue to reward their own players with local products.

Marketing Chief Hagerup smoking said: “It is obvious that we will hand out raw materials as prizes for our best players.”

And keeper De Boer – who seemed disappointed when he was depicted with his Eggs Award – insisted: “I like it.”

Manchester City Superstar Haaland started his professional career at Bryne before he left for the Norwegian rivals in 2017.

Dad Alfie also started with the Eliteserien Club and spent 14 years with them before Nottingham Forest signed him in 1993.
