La Liga giant sets sights on Arsenal star set to depart this summer

Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey will currently be fully focused on a Champions League quarter final second stage with Real Madrid, but he could stand in line later in the year for a return to Spain. The Ghanaian midfielder is without a contract in the summer, but Arsenal does not intend to renew his deal and he is ready to continue.

Their intention is to replace him with Real Sociedad's Martin Zubimendi, which is available for a release clause of € 60 million – if they can convince him to join them. Pedey has been connected to Barcelona in recent months and the 31-year-old is reportedly loving a move to Catalonia.

Nevertheless, Marca says that the former club is Atletico Madrid who are interested in bringing back to La Liga. Los Rojiblancos has been looking for a successor to Captain Resurreccion at the basis of midfield for several years, and director of Football Carlos Bucero has identified Pedey as one of the best options.

The experienced midfielder came through the Academy in Atletico and performed well until they were sold to Arsenal for € 50 million in 2020. Since then, Geoffrey Kondogbia, Lucas Torreira, Hector Herrera, Hector Herrera, Hector Herrera, and Arthur Veragene have tried to become the next 'number 5' in the Argentinian sense of position, with various successful levels of success. Since it is available on a free, Atletico wants to move to Pedey early and conclude a deal, because he probably has a number of offers.

Currently, Pablo Barrios tends to be Rodrigo de Paul in the middle of the field for Diego Simeone, but there is a feeling that the first is better with more freedom to move forward, instead of anchoring midfield. While Koke remains a good player, Simeone has left him more and more as a starter in the most demanding games.
