Former Liverpool star set to leave Saudi Arabia ‘for emotional homecoming’ at 33 two years after departing the Reds

A former Liverpool star will leave the Saudi Pro League at the age of 33 for a reported emotional return.

The attacker was part of a wave of stars that had played in Europe to move to the middle in the summer of 2023, next to Neymar, Karim Benzema and N'Golo Kante.

He enjoyed success with Al-Ahli while he won in the country this season and won the AFC Champions League while he set up both goals in the final. In total he scored 21 times in 65 games for the club.

The club president, Khaled al-Ghamdi, has, however, demonstrated that they have agreed to end Roberto Firmino's contract, asked after he had written a three-year-old deal when he came to the club two years ago.

Ben Jacobs van Givemesport reports that Firmino wants to get a return to his native Brazil, where he started his career at Figueirense before moving to Hoffenheim in Germany.

It would be an emotional return to the attacker 14 years after he left the club and his home country when he approaches the back of his career at the age of 33.

There were concern about the future of Firmino when he was not registered in the Al-Ahli team for the second half of the Saudi Pro League season, but he did play a key role in their Champions League-winning campaign.

Firmino was left in tears when he said goodbye to the believers in Liverpool in May 2023 after the last home game of the Reds.

After playing such a key role in the Champions League triumph of Liverpool in 2019 and won the Premier League a year later, he cut an emotional figure before he was on his way to Saudi.

Salah left that as the only one left, and he is still strong to this day, the Premier League wanted to win Golden Boot and have just written a new two -year -old deal with the club.

Firmino has also been closed 55 times by Brazil and scored 17 times.
